Dear Tessa: Keeping up with you!

Dear Tessa,

I told you I would post a picture of you in your Halloween costume so here it is…

A cute little peanut and a ninja big brother!  Perfect costumes!

In other news, after nearly three months of what I consider to be the worst stretch of teething that I am sure anyone has endured, you finally FINALLY cut one of your bottom front teeth sometime over last night.  This makes seven with its neighbor not too far behind.  I really didn’t think they would ever come in.  It felt like someone was playing a really sick joke on me you.  I think I threatened to run away somewhere in all of the screaming and hitting and biting and rotten diaper rash…But I didn’t.  This morning I just wanted to throw a freaking party in your tooth’s honor.

You are quite the little mover these days.  Right now we are working on transitioning from sitting to crawling, crawling to kneeling, and kneeling to standing.  You are so close to perfecting it all.  I don’t think it will be much longer, though.  My god, look at how big you look here,

Miss Independent.  Then there is a little game you like to play at meal time when you drop launch food off of your high chair tray and say “Uh oh” as if it were some sort of an accident.  Get real Bug, I’m on to you.

But this has to be my favorite.  I love, love, love playing peek-a-boo with you around the coffee table.  Pretty sneaky!

And after a full day, you curl up in your nightly routine with Dad…who, notably, is still your favorite.

What a month!  Anymore it is hard keeping up with you!

To end we did end up finding out if you will have a little sister or a little brother in April and the result is…

Baby #2Baby 2 sucks thumb

A healthy and very active little girl!

Dad and brother needed a day to recover from the news, but they are just fine now!  The girls are taking over 🙂

Love, Mom.

Moving Fast!

Dan and I arrived back home from our vacation to swoop Tessa up and cuddle her all day!  While we were gone, she managed to cut three or four teeth in three days while we were gone.  I talked last post about Tessa meeting her milestones and while I enjoy being a part of them even when they can be wonderful and frustrating (example: teething), I feel like we dodged a little bit of a “parenting” bullet here.

BUT…she was still pretty happy to see mom and dad…

Her motor development as well as physical strength are sharpening as she gets close to her first birthday.  Here are some things that have been happening since our last post.

  • She got more teeth
  • She is learning cause and effect
  • Tessa is picking up large items from her high chair tray
  • She is still scooting backwards, but at greater distances
  • She is working hard trying to transition from laying to sitting and vice versa
  • Her aunt and uncle taught her how to stand at the couch
  • Tessa is drinking from a straw with ease and holding her own sippy
  • “Mom” and “Dad” are being said more frequently, especially when Dad is visible
Cause and effect
“When I hit this, it lights up!”

I was reading on Noahsdad.com that I need to put things on Tessa’s tray that are easier for her to pick up and still safe for her to eat.  She has yet to develop her “pincher grasp” so large, soft items are working best!  Thanks Noahsdad.com!

Almost on the go!

While we were gone, her aunt and uncle taught her this little trick!  Her shoulder strength has greatly improved, and she is able to hold herself up for a little while!

Working hard to get to the sitting position

Blurry, yes, but you can see that Tessa is trying so hard to get into new positions without just falling over.

She is drinking from her sippy pretty much on her own.  She needs a sippy with a straw to help maintain tongue control and to strengthen her oral development.  It took no time at all for her to start doing this!

And after all of that…

A girl is tired!
