Dear Tessa: Big days ahead…

Dear Tessa:

I have been slacking on the blog lately—I almost forgot to write you your July letter.  Summer is super busy just like every year which has lead to poor prioritizing.  I’m working on it.  And honestly, it’s hot—so hot…so when I get a chance to relax, that is exactly what I do.

There are so many new things you are doing right now…You started signing “more” back to us and IT IS AWESOME!  You are waving “Hi” and “Goodbye,” even if it is at inopportune times.  Your pincer grasp is coming along nicely and to celebrate that, you cherish the coveted Cheetos Puff…maybe a little too much, but I am okay with it.  Along with a few other milestones, you are suddenly developing out of infancy.

I’ve been fine-tuning the details of your first birthday party because after all, it is only a few weeks away!  (I’ll save my emotions for that post.)  But I am excited for your friends and family to come celebrate you and your first big year in the crazy world.  Here is a little preview of what your invites look like.  I bet you can’t guess what your party theme is…

What a party it will be.

Lastly, I want you to know about 47 Strings:  Tessa’s Special Code.  This is the story of how we shared your extra 21st chromosome with your big brother.  We are fortunate enough to be working with an extraordinary publishing company who is making our story into a children’s book so we can help other families learn about Down syndrome and help share a diagnosis with siblings.  They also value my passion for writing so it has made the experience thus far incredible.  We are really excited for 47 Strings to be on bookshelves in October!  I knew big things were always in store for you, but I didn’t realize they would come this soon!

Here is a picture that will be featured in the book:

You are stunning!    I am forever inspired by you.  How lucky am I to be your mom?!

Love, Mom
